Books, books, books and breathe (plus Ashes news!!!)

Me at my first book signing!

Me at my first book signing!

I know, I know…I always start my blog with an apology about how long it has been since the last time I posted anything, but, I swear on this occasion I have lots of very good (and exciting) reasons.

So, since we last spoke, a million and one book-related things have happened and it is all great news. I have held my first book signing (to which people actually came, so that was a huge relief!), spent another afternoon doing talks, readings and Q and As with a school for World Book Day and had an hour-long interview with BBC Radio York about Embers and my life!

On top of that, I have finalised all the changes/edits for Ashes, signed off on the cover art, written the blurb AND agreed a release date…wanna know? OK, Ashes will be yours on 16th of April 2013 and available across e-reader formats as well as in paperback through Amazon and Waterstones online. EXCITED! I really hope you guys love it as much as you did Embers and I hope you will…it is certainly darker and I know you all like those parts of the first book!

The cover reveal for Ashes will come ahead of the release and I am really thrilled that Gliterary Girl is hosting the grand unveiling…there will probably be some giveaways too!

So much has been going on and I have hardly had chance to catch my breath, but it has all been amazing. The signing was an amazing experience. Speaking to people that had heard about it in the press or through mutual friends was really wonderful and I am now all geared up to do more!

World Book Day was great and I must say thank you to Lawnswood School in Leeds for having me and for the pupils for making me feel famous! It was wonderful to have the opportunity to meet with young readers; this is by far my favourite thing that has come from the promotion of Embers. Meeting young people who share my love of books and aspire to write is incredible and I feel very honoured to have the chance to share my experiences with them.

You can listen to my radio interview here: BBC Radio York which includes my ‘Desert Island Disks’ style music choices and some fangirling!

Next post will be some more from my Gliterary Girl column. Until then, keep reading and stop by and say hello if you fancy some book chat!
